2023/2024 Political Sociology

The course aims to explore how the politics (institutions, actors, processes) interact, and how politics and society mutually effect each other. Several issues are explored in the comparative perspective.  Political sociology is an interdisciplinary subject, where political science and sociology intersect. The course provides basic theoretical and methodological insight on the following issues:  states and societies; democratization/transition processes - comparative perspective, social movements and civil society, societal and political cleavages; political behavior in several perspectives, changes in the value system and its consequences; populism and extremism.
