Course objectives:
By the end of the course, students should:
- Be able to explain the importance of comparative politics, and the challenges facing political scientists trying to conduct systematic comparisons;
- Demonstrate a familiarity with the major forms of political institutions;
- Understand the factors leading to stability and change in political systems;
- Be able to present, orally and in writing, arguments supported by examples and illustrations from a number of country case studies.
